Monday March 31-Tuesday April 1 Boynton Beach and Key Largo

Monday morning, Sonny and I moved from Mike's house in Deerfield to my brother's place in Boynton Beach.  We decided we just couldn't leave the warm sun and dry weather so we've extended our stay for another few days.  We visited with my brother and his wife in the afternoon and then went to see "12 Years a Slave" at the movies.

Tuesday was another sunshine day with temps near 80* as we drove to Key Largo.  The GPS told us to use the Florida Turnpike but we didn't heed the advice and consequently, the 2 hr trip took 3 hours by way of  areas close to Miami. In the traffic, we did pass a huge motor home and boat from Maine.  We booked a glass bottom boat tour from John Pennekamp Park.  After scaring me with warnings of wind, 3 foot swells and seasickness, the crew took us out 6 miles to the Molasses Reef for views of the coral, sea life and a sunken ship. In the evening, we drove further west in the Keys looking for sand beaches but it was getting late for the return trip. Sonny did stop at a deserted resort for a quick photo.

Leaving mainland Florida

We're really in Key Largo!

Lunch  under the trees at John Pennekamp Park

Easy idea for a bird bath

Getting ready to sail on

Very large lizard sunning on the beach

Cooling my feet on the Atlantic side.  It wasn't quite
warm enough for snorkeling.

We're on our way.  Seas are calm in the harbor.

Ahhhh!  Sunshine and warmth!

People watching is always fun.  These two girls were photographed
posing by the railing several times by their companion.

Pretty backdrop for the flag.

No seasickness for me!

Clear waters on Molasses Reef

Can't recall all the coral names but one of these
looked like Moose antlers.

Returning to shore

White heron along the shore canal in the mangrove trees

We wanted to see the Gulf of Mexico but it was getting late so Sonny
stopped at this private resort.  Sand was all raked evenly, chairs
lined up for sun bathers and kayaks ready but not a soul around.
